OVERVIEW

This industry driven course is designed to give students a wide range of practical skills required to present television and radio programmes to a professional standard. Participants will have the opportunity to explore and develop their own individual and personal style of presenting and record both on location and in studio. Learn how to write scripts, links, promos, intros and pieces to camera, conduct interviews, build packages and create broadcast-ready content that is interesting, understandable and memorable.

Our purpose-built facilities include a large modern television and radio studio and editing suites. The balance of practical, analytical and academic modules will enable graduates to confidently look for inspiring and challenging industry positions. The course also includes an Acting for TV and Film module. Learn the different acting techniques required for TV, film and commercials.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Five O6/H7 grades in Leaving Certificate/LCVP (one of which must be English) or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI level 4 Certificate.  Applicants should show an interest in and an aptitude for media at the interview. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).

CERTIFICATION

QQI Level 5 Certificate in Media Production 5M18518

This programme is currently being revised and some components may change. Certification will be at level 5 on the QQI Common Awards System.

PORTFOLIO GUIDELINES

Candidates must have a pre-recorded 1 minute piece to camera or should have a one minute script prepared on any subject which will be recorded at the interview stage. Please bring to interview any additional relevant material.
