The College is equipped to a high standard with computers and the relevant software necessary for the delivery of the various courses. The purpose-built Media Building contains state-of-the-art television studios and editing facilities, performance space, computer rooms, etc.
Technical Assistants work in many departments in the college. They are responsible for the organisation, maintenance and distribution of all equipment within the departments. They will check out all equipment to students in collaboration with teaching staff. Students are not permitted to take or borrow any item of equipment without the knowledge of the Technical Assistants and approval of the class tutor.
Where a student wishes to retain a copy of his / her work it is important to have a copy made before the project hand in date.
All work produced for the college remains the property of the college.
Any work undertaken by students for outside clients that uses any college resources or the college name must be approved in advance by the principal. It will always be a requirement of approval that the work will remain the property of the college.
Individual departments may have particular requirements and you will be informed of these at your induction programme.
All students should read the document Computer and Network Usage Policy issued by the CDVEC. All students (including night class students) are bound by this document. As a registered student you must sign the Student Usage Agreement. A copy of this agreement is included in this handbook for reference.
Computer information can be found on your H: Network Drive called ‘Computing Notes for Students’.
At the start of the year, all students are issued with printing credits. To purchase additional credits, go to the students resource room and pay the attendant, who will issue you with a docket for the technicians to update your account. This docket should be taken to the technicians room (in through the rainbow coloured wall, first right, first door on right).
