  • All applications are now on-line. Applicants should make separate applications for each course.
  • All applicants applying by the closing date will be interviewed EXCEPT in certain high demand courses such as Social Care and Music.
  • Short-listing of applicants may occur or the number of interviews maybe limited for these courses.

Fees

There are no fees for PLC courses, however you will probably be asked to pay for registration charges by certifying bodies, student services, books, and equipment where the item purchased becomes your personal property. A list of such resource fees is available from the General Office, telephone: 01 6269421.

A deposit of €40 will be required to secure a place on a course. This will not be refunded if you do not avail of the course. If you do enrol on the course, the amount will be held as a down payment against the charges outlined above.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

The College welcomes applications from qualified international applicants.

International (non-EU) students must comply with Irish immigration requirements and must present either a student visa or a letter of permission to remain in Ireland issued by the Immigration Section of the Department of Justice.

Non-EU students will be required to pay a more substantial fee than EU
students for each year of their attendance at BCFE.

English Language

All courses are delivered through English. Students are advised that to benefit from their chosen course they should be proficient in written and spoken English, and may be required to provide a certified qualification of proficiency in English. A list of approved English language qualifications is available from the College office.

FEES

There are no tuition fees for Irish or EU citizens undertaking PLC Courses.

However all students are required to pay a Resource Fee, which covers registration by certifying bodies, student services, books and equipment where the item purchased becomes your personal property.

Non-EU citizens will be required to pay a more substantial fee, as laid down by the Department of Education.

Government Levy

A Government Levy of €200 per annum was introduced in the 2011/2012 academic year. This contribution must be collected form all learners except participants in the following categories:-

  • Full Medical Card holders (in date at registration) in their own right and their dependence children
  • Those who are eligible under the Student Grant Scheme
  • Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or
  • Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) Allowances
