This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the area of Business Administration specifically focused on working in the medical sector. It is designed for would like to work in the secretarial/reception/administration side of the health sector and pursue a career in medical or dental surgeries, in hospitals or in care home administration. It aims to give students an introduction to the core theories and methodologies of business administration allied to the relevant health sector concepts and terminology. Medical Terminology and Audio Transcripts are key modules which allow students to develop the skills and knowledge for work in the health sector.
This course will also enable the student to achieve the academic skills and knowledge necessary for further study and future employment in a number of Business related areas. Work experience in a relevant area will is an integral part of the course.
Five O6/H7 grades in Leaving Certificate/LCVP or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4 Certificate. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).
Students who wish to progress in-house and who have achieved a Merit profile on this Level 5 award can apply for the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business currently being run in BCFE or/and apply through the higher education links scheme for third level courses.
