BCFE  and Ballyfermot Public Library

Ballyfermot College of Further Education, in co-operation with Ballyfermot Public Library, provide students with an enhanced learning experience. Through the library, students have access to professional staff who are ever helpful and willing to assist in all aspects of research. The library provides a variety of study spaces for students of the college, these range from individual study spaces for quiet study, to group study rooms where students can work together on projects. The library also facilitates student workshops, seminars, student performances and exhibitions of student work. It is also quiet place where students can relax at their  coffee dock!

e-Resources

The library provides access to a wide and diverse range of e-resources including: e-books;e-magazines ; digital comics; e-journals; national and international newspapers; all aspects -of art and visual culture; a range of databases for business, management and marketing; as well as free online music and art instruction including lessons for instruments, voice, art and music theory.
Creative Studio facilitates the creation of music recordings, record podcasts, videos, interviews, group discussions, oral histories and more besides. At the centre of this space are two recording booths providing access to a variety of audio and video recording equipment and software.

Dedicated College Space

College students have access to college over 2,000 titles located on the dedicated shelves of Ballyfermot Library. The Library Catalogue can be accessed at www.dublincitylibraries.ie, and simply type ‘BCFE’ into search and you can browse the college catalogue. COVID-19

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic , the library has had to restrict its normal services but hopes to return them as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Students can register on-line to become members of the library

You need to get your students to register on-line at:

www.dublincitypubliclibraries.ie Follow the links to register online, or simply click:   https://lgma.iii.com/selfreg 

To collect membership cards from the library, students need

  1. Photo ID
  2. Proof of current address eg. formal letter, bank statement, driver’s licence.

If students register online they can reserve items straightaway, but to borrow they will need to collect their library membership card from library staff.
