Graphic and UI Designer

DMH AGH MPM Web Design – Advanced App & Web UI/UX Diploma (HND) Level 6 Higher

I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the help and support offered by the tutors at Ballyfermot. I completed 3 courses during my time here, AGH Graphic Design, DMH Digital Media and a BA Hons Degree in Media Production Management, where I’ve met lifelong friends, had the opportunity to partake in an Erasmus programme in Finland and in my final year received Student of the Year award.

There’s a real sense of community in the college. Even the college porters are great craic. Having smaller classes definitely guarantees a more personalised experience letting you benefit from one-to-ones with your tutors. Not only do they teach you the theory behind the course you’re studying, but also prepare you with the practical skills to succeed in an industry environment. The tutors on each course are extremely talented, passionate and easy-going. Their positive classroom atmosphere was incredibly motivating and engaging, where you were never afraid to ask silly questions. Even after graduating, I am still in contact with a handful of tutors who I am forever grateful for.

I cannot recommend Ballyfermot enough. I will always cherish my years studying here.

Multimedia Journalist RTE

MJH MPM Higher National Diploma in Journalism, BA in Media Production Management

Ballyfermot College of Further Education helped to shape my understanding of the Irish media landscape and its different news values. During the two-year Diploma in Journalism we created a student newspaper, the Student Chronicle. While working on the paper I discovered I really enjoyed working in a news environment, the thrill of trying to find stories, getting interviews and seeing the finished product. Without BCFE I wouldn’t be where I am today. I can’t recommend the college enough for anyone who is looking to work in journalism.

Reporter and Producer

MND MRH MPM Radio Programming & Production

2018 Graduate Simon O’Leary

I really found my feet during the two year radio course as it was so hands on and practical.

I did Media & Broadcasting Diploma (MND) then Radio Programming & Production Diploma Level 6 Higher National Diploma (MRH) course and then Media Production Management BA Degree all in BCFE

The lecturers are so encouraging and supportive of work placements and they have the network to help you get your foot in the door of Ireland’s biggest broadcasters. It’s so important to put the theory learned in lectures into practice in the workplace as it’s the only way to get a start in the industry. Ballyfermot is so encouraging of this and I’ll always be forever grateful for their drive to get me into the workplace.

I’m now living in London and freelance as a producer for Sky News and Channel 4 News. I’m currently a reporter and producer on the BBC’s flagship day time news programme, The Victoria Derbyshire programme which airs each weekday on BBC Two and the News Channel.

MRH MPM Radio Programming & Production

I’m Jessica and I did the Radio Programming & Production Diploma Level 6 Higher National Diploma (MRH) course and then Media Production Management BA Degree.

Since I graduated in September 2018, I have been able to use all of the skills that I got from my radio course to help me progress in the industry.

The 3 years I spent in the college helped me to open up as a person and meet and network with new people. Having lecturers that have worked in the industry was such a huge advantage and really prepared me for what was to come.

I did my Erasmus in Spirit Radio in Helsinki, Finland.

I am now a Radio Presenter & Producer working with Spin 1038, 98FMToday FM and BBC Radio 1
