Creative Art Workshops Link With Local Schools
Over the last months, BCFE linked with local schools to deliver online workshops in art-based activities. The first of these was a set of two workshops in Creative Notebooks and Experimental Drawing with the 5th Year pupils in Kylemore College. The aim is to provide content that is relevant to their Leaving Cert art folders but also to inform future portfolios for application to Level 5 courses or similar, such as those at BCFE. The pupils were also given a short Easter brief in which they developed a collection of work in response to a theme of ‘My Place’, looking at the environment in which they have been spending time during their year of remote learning.
The second programme is Art4Success, which is at present, halfway through. This is being delivered over six weeks to 5th class pupils in Mary Queen of Angels. Over the course of this time, the boys are creating comic pages, pop-up pages and clay pieces linked to their favourite places in Ballyfermot. An element of this project will also involve themes from the BCFE x Sculpture Dublin event which our own BCFE students are taking part in.
All classes were delivered online this year, as opposed to usually being delivered in the classroom, but despite this, the work being produced is still as vibrant due to the pupils’ hard work and enthusiasm.
