Empowering Futures: Ballyfermot College Celebrates International Women’s Day 2025

For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.

Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) is proud to present Empowering Futures: Ballyfermot College Celebrates International Women’s Day 2025, an inspiring and gender-inclusive event designed to equip young professionals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to build successful careers.

This year’s United Nations International Women’s Day theme—”For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”—emphasises the importance of creating equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender. With this in mind, BCFE has brought together a panel of leading experts to provide practical career advice, share their experiences, and inspire the next generation of professionals.

This student-led production features four accomplished guest speakers, each offering unique insights into key areas of career success:

Aoife Dunican – The Style Bob (Personal Branding & Professional Image)

Jean Evans – Ignite Business Network (Networking & Business Growth)

Andrea O’Grady – Wellness & Mindset Coach (Mental Resilience & Confidence)

Seyi Agbede – The Leadership Enabler (Leadership & Career Progression)

The showcase is hosted by Aisling O’Rourke, Course Coordinator for Content Creation and Photography at BCFE, and was produced by talented students and staff from the Content Creation and Photography Course, as well as the Immersive Media Degree, Television, and Radio Courses.

A Gender-Inclusive Approach to Career Success

At BCFE, we believe that career success should be accessible to everyone. While International Women’s Day often focuses on advancing gender equality for women, we recognise that true progress requires inclusivity and collaboration. That’s why this showcase welcomes all students, professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs to learn from these incredible industry leaders.

The event explores four key pillars of professional success:

Personal Branding & Image – Presented by Aoife Dunican (The Style Bob), this session highlights how personal style and professional presence can influence career opportunities. Aoife shares expert advice on crafting a personal brand that aligns with career goals and builds confidence.

Networking & Career Growth – Jean Evans (Ignite Business Network) reveals the secrets to successful networking, building meaningful connections, and leveraging professional relationships to open new doors.

Mindset & Wellbeing for Success – Andrea O’Grady (Wellness & Mindset Coach) addresses the importance of mental resilience in the workplace, offering strategies to overcome imposter syndrome and develop a success-oriented mindset.

Leadership & Breaking Barriers – Seyi Agbede (The Leadership Enabler) provides powerful insights on navigating leadership roles, breaking through barriers, and thriving in competitive industries.

Why This Event Matters

For many young people entering the workforce, knowing how to stand out, build confidence, and take control of their careers can be challenging. Ballyfermot College’s Empowering Futures showcase provides real-world strategies and practical insights to help students and early-career professionals feel prepared and motivated to take their next steps.

Student-Led, Industry-Focused

One of the most exciting aspects of this event is that it was produced by BCFE students from the Content Creation and Photography Course, the Immersive Media Degree, Television, and Radio Courses. This hands-on learning experience allowed students to apply their skills in filming, editing, production management, and content creation, ensuring that this event was both professionally executed and deeply relevant to the needs of young people today.

By bridging the gap between education and industry, Ballyfermot College continues to support and empower students with real-world experience, preparing them for future careers in media, communications, and beyond.
