Michaela Hayes meets Radio Students for Recruitment Drive

BCFE graduate Michaela Hayes (music director, presenter and documentary maker) completed the Radio course and the BA Media Production Management degree in 2011. Since then she has worked on a number of radio stations including NOVA. Michaela is currently working at iRadio, where many other Radio graduates are in management and on air.

Monday to Friday, from 7am to 12am, you will hear Radio graduates consecutively. By day (Monday to Thursday), Michaela is the station’s Music Director, making her Ireland’s first female Music PD. By night (also Monday to Thursday) she is the Producer Presenter of iRadio @Night which started this week, 9pm to Midnight. She can also be heard weekly on REAL FM 107.9 in Gran Canaria, where other current and former Radio students present shows.

Michaela recently made a documentary, “IBD & I“, commissioned with Sound and Vision funding. This tracks her personal journey through Crohn’s Disease, and was made with assistance from BCFE Radio students.

The talk she gave at BCFE was also to recruit Radio students to do work on her new show where they will get opportunities to present pieces and present small features on air. She fondly reminisced about her time on the Radio course and gave strong advice and contacts for getting into the industry.

Michaela Haye’s own website will go live later this week; see also Twitter (@michaelahayesradio)
