Graphic design students win YCN commendation
Congratulations to 2nd Year Graphic Design Students Helen O’Higgins and Chiara Tallarini
Everyone at BCFE would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Helen O’Higgins and Chiara Tallarini who won in their category (Childline Campaign) for the ‘New Now’ YCN design competition 2019.
Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is an award-winning learning network. The ‘New Now’ programme is designed to stimulate, elevate and enable diverse next generation design talent. Working with partners from a global creative community the live briefs help connect rising talent with international organisations and businesses.
The Childline Campaign brief required students to create a series of illustrations and/or animations to help 13/18 year old who struggle with mental health issues.
Helen and Chiara produced a series of illustrations whose aim was to brighten up the mood of teenagers. They came up with a series of positive tag lines such as ‘Be Active’, ‘Reach out’, ‘Nurture your Mind’; and then created illustrations to represent each of these concepts visually.
The illustrations were applied to a series of posters and other products; such as collectible postcards, a tote bag, an animated GIF and an Instagram profile to show how the campaign would look like if it went live: https://www.instagram.
