Graduate Exhibition Graphic/Illustration HNDs May 14th-May 19th at Farmleigh

This exhibition profiles the work of graduates of our Higher National Diplomas in Illustration and Graphics. Graduate work on display showcases a visual narrative resulting from focused individual research and practice within disciplines such as illustration, packaging, digital media and typography. Through their education at BCFE, students explore art and design through traditional and contemporary practices and engage in a range of live projects and exhibitions.

It’s been a remarkable year for the illustration students in particular. First-year graphic students Susan Sweeney and Dominic Barnes won first and third place respectively in Future Illustrators 2019 at Offset – the biggest design conference in Dublin – sponsored by ad agency Chemistry and the Irish Examiner.

Illustration graduate Juliette Viode has been recruited by community art project Dublin Canvas – to bring flashes of colour and creativity to everyday objects in the greater Dublin area this summer. If you see a bright traffic signal box in Dublin this summer it’s likely to have been painted by Juliette Viode.

BCFE design graduates have sparkled too this year. Now a designer for O’Neills Sports, graphics graduate Graham Moynes designed the Wicklow GAA jersey and Craig Winterleich’s personal identity is being used by MOO- print house- as part of their advertising campaign. Both HND Graphics and Illustration graduates took part again in Art Source, RDS, in November 2018- a nationwide platform for their work.

BCFE Higher National Diploma programmes involve two years of full time academic study through modules indicated on our website. Our graduates will pursue different pathways- some into advanced entry into further education and others will work freelance within the illustration and graphics disciplines.

This year we are delighted to welcome Ben Mulligan from The Arts Council to launch our exhibition on Tuesday May 14th at 6pm in The Cowshed at Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8.The exhibition will be open for public viewing from May 14th– May 19th– 10am-5pm.
