Ballyfermot Students Gain Industry Insight at LinkedIn Dublin Headquarters
Students from City of Dublin FET Ballyfermot College recently visited LinkedIn’s Dublin headquarters as part of their ongoing academic and professional development. The visit formed part of the college’s commitment to providing students with direct industry engagement and real-world learning opportunities.
The group brought together students from a number of programmes, including Photography and Content Creation, Business and Psychology, and Media and Broadcasting. This cross-disciplinary approach reflects the collaborative nature of today’s creative and business industries, where communication, content and strategy increasingly intersect.
During the visit, students took part in LinkedIn for Career Starters, a workshop designed to support those preparing to enter the workforce. The session was delivered by Will Burke, Legal and Public Policy Manager at LinkedIn, who shared practical insights into how students and early-stage entrepreneurs can use LinkedIn to build their professional presence, grow their networks and position themselves effectively within their chosen industries.
A key focus of the workshop was on developing a strong and authentic professional brand. Students were encouraged to think critically about how they present themselves online, how they communicate their skills and experience, and how they engage with opportunities in a strategic and considered way.
The visit also highlighted the importance of industry collaboration within further education. The relationship between LinkedIn and Ballyfermot College, facilitated through LinkedIn’s social impact programme, continues to provide valuable learning experiences that bridge the gap between education and employment.
Experiences such as this reinforce the college’s commitment to ensuring students are not only developing technical and creative skills but are also equipped with the professional awareness and confidence needed to progress into the workplace.
The college would like to extend its sincere thanks to Will Burke and Katrina Enros for organising the visit and for their continued support of Ballyfermot students.
